Over The Edge
I could hear my heart pounding in my chest. I leaned over the edge and saw the long drop below me. I cautiously fed the rope through the harness and clambered down the cliff as fast as I could manage. The harness was tight around my waist. The ground was coming up fast…too fast. My feet pounded against the dry ground. I was elated. I raced up to the top of the ledge and went again because I just knew I could go faster! This time it was a race against the clock. The guide counted me in, 3.2.1 “GO!” I scaled the cliff with what I thought was as gracefully as a bird diving into the ocean, but not head first! As I was reaching the bottom I slowed down and this time I touched down lightly. “Stop!” I screamed… “7 seconds” The guide later told me. When everyone was finished we walked back to the hut saying, “That was awesome and if I had the opportunity I would definitely do that again. By Jarrad Hill |
