Wet and Windy
I was already freezing and wet as I climbed into my kayak. It’d just started raining. Mr Pearce was teaching us all how to kayak without falling into the lake. I thought it would be challenging and difficult. He had been talking for ages before at last we went out into the muddy lake, although the water was warm I didn’t want to fall in. when then had a little paddle around and had a race from one end to the other. I kept on spinning my kayak around as I was not great at kayaking yet. I also kept on crashing into the sides of the lake like a ball in a pinball machine. We then played kayak bullrush, it was challenging having to tag the others body with your hand, not your paddle. Mr Pearce got me in first so I tried to get the others. It was so hard having them racing around in their kayaks while I had to keep turning and changing directions to get others. The overall winner was Cameron Pearce, because he has his own kayak. After that we did an activity where we had to walk across each other’s kayak without falling in. I didn’t want to do it because I thought I’d fall in but I did it and didn’t fall in, a couple of people did and it was hilarious seeing them all wet and muddy. We had some free time after that to paddle around. Mr Pearce yelled to Jarrad to stand in his kayak and he celebrated when he did it. I wanted to make him fall out so I ran into his kayak by getting up as much speed and thumping into him. I tried to get away from him but he caught me and tried flooding my kayak. He half flooded it before Mr Pearce told him to stop. Finally we hopped out, tidied the gear up and went to the bus, wet and exhausted but very happy. In conclusion, I thought kayaking would have been challenging but it was simple. I would do it again of I got the chance. Ben Nordqvist 8ZA |
